NWCC Announcements

Starting Monday, November 2, 2009 at 7 a.m., you will begin receiving emails with “NWCC Student Evaluation of Faculty” in the subject line. These are your course evaluation survey links. You will receive one email for every class you are currently taking. Please take the time to access these brief (Less than 5 minutes) surveys to let us know about your experiences in class this semester. Online students will be directed to another state survey inside Bb.

...... We now have someone to answer your questions about Blackboard until 9:00 at night, Monday through Friday.  Please call Northwest eLearning office for help at 662-560-5259 or 662-562-3934.

All proctored tests will be administered by your online Instructor at a scheduled time.

If you can't go at that time please check with your Instructor to make other arrangements.  The NWCC proctor will only be available at the Senatobia campus for alternate testing times.

WEATHER-RELATED INFORMATION--Northwest CC

Northwest Employees and Students,

As we prepare for any bad weather, we wanted to inform everyone about the

potential impact on Internet/e-mail services on campus and on Blackboard.

Our Internet/e-mail services come through the State Board in Jackson,

therefore, any storm making landfall along the Alabama, Mississippi,

or Louisiana coast has the potential to affect our services on all campuses.

It is expected that all students will continue to do work as assigned

by the instructor.  All Blackboard content (our servers) are hosted

outside the southeastern region.  You should expect no

service disruption from Blackboard related to these storms.

However, there are other factors to keep in mind when connecting to your

course, including power to your area and internet connectivity.  Please keep

in mind that in the event you receive no information from your instructor

during this period, your instructor may have been affected by the storm.

Please continue to complete work as you are able. In the event the Northwest

Website is down, the direct Blackboard link is:

http://northwestms.blackboard.com/webapps/portal/frameset.jsp

Finally, we recommend that all college personnel (staff, faculty, and

students) sign up for the emergency notification service from Governor

Barbour's office.  You can sign up here:

https://portal.blackboardconnectgov.com/welcome.aspx?eiid=1207B6088C3477A56278

This service sends voicemail messages to cell phones, home phones, and e-mail

to those who register.  In the event of a power interruption, this service

can provide vital information affecting the citizens of Mississippi.

Employees should refer to the Campus Emergency Response Plan they received

earlier this year for detailed information about Northwest plans and policies

in the event of impact from a storm or other emergency.  Students should refer

to the emergency procedures listed in the back of the Student Guide.
